What is MathPass?

MathPass is an open-source, client-side password generator designed to bridge cryptographic security with human memorability.

Instead of generating unpronounceable random strings or predictable dictionary words, MathPass combines 40+ mathematical constants (π, e, φ, √2, Euler-Mascheroni γ, etc.) and physical constants (Planck's constant, Boltzmann constant, speed of light) with cognitive mnemonics, puns, and formulas.

Key features:

  • 100% Client-Side Execution: All generation runs in the browser using the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues). No passwords, parameters, or inputs are ever transmitted over the network.
  • Personal Secret Anchor: An optional user-supplied salt added to the derivation scheme, ensuring generated passwords resist targeted brute-force and dictionary attacks (Kerckhoffs's principle) even if the constant library is publicly known.
  • Real-Time Entropy & Strength Metrics: Live calculation of Shannon entropy bits, character pool size, and brute-force crack-time estimates.
  • Configurable Security Profiles: Multiple presets (High, Very High, Paranoid) with custom symbols, numbers, and casing rules.
  • Zero Dependencies & Offline Capable: Operates standalone without external APIs or accounts.
