What is Mario Kart?
The "Mario Kart" series is an Action Racing Game series developed and released by Nintendo. As of 2020, the total sales of the Mario Kart series reached over 150 million copies worldwide.
Featuring characters from the Mario Bros. franchise, they board go-karts and compete for speed on a variety of courses based on Mario series (some of which collaborate with other games, like
PAC-MAN, The Legend of Zelda,
Animal Crossing, Splatoon, etc.). What is different from other racing games is the incorporation of strong action and luck, utilizing its various course gimmicks and "item box" devices which allows the driver to obtain items with various benefits to gain advantage in a race. Items obtainable from the item box differ depending on the situation at the time (ranking and distance from the 1st place), and the items themselves are also randomly determined.
In short, the ability of each driver and the luck system broadly divide the final results, so they are not just about speed, but also techniques and strategies required to deal with such uncertainties in order to gain high rankings.

Comments and Reviews
Mario Kart Tour was a personal disappointment, not because of the monetization inherent to mobile gaming, but because the touch-based interface and design concessions made in order to get the iconic franchise running on smart devices make it feel like a compromised facsimile of Mario Kart instead of an official new entry.
For those of you that enjoy kart racing games, I strongly recommend picking up a Nintendo Switch alongside Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Though the price difference is steep, there's no sneaky monetization practices and no design concessions or compromises. It's worth the initial investment.
