What is MailVault?

MailVault is a desktop email client for macOS and Linux that saves selected IMAP messages locally as standard .eml files in Maildir-style folders. Connect Gmail, Microsoft 365, or another IMAP account, read, search, and reply as usual, then archive selected messages to disk. The server copy remains until you explicitly choose Archive & Delete; after archiving, saved mail can be searched offline. Each message is an individual file that EML-compatible apps can read.

Manual archiving and the core client features are available in the Free version, with local capacity limited by the disk space you choose to use. Premium adds scheduled backups with health verification. Credentials use macOS Keychain or Linux Secret Service. Free needs no MailVault account, and the app has no app telemetry.

MailVault runs on macOS 11 or later and Linux.
