What is MailProbe?

MailProbe is a real-time email verification REST API for developers, SaaS teams and email marketers. Every check runs the full pipeline live: RFC syntax validation, DNS/MX lookup, SMTP handshake against the recipient's mail server (no email is ever sent), catch-all probing, plus disposable, role-based and free-provider categorisation.

Each result carries both the raw SMTP verdict (result: deliverable / undeliverable / catch-all / unknown) and an actionable rollup (status: valid / risky / invalid / unknown), along with a deterministic 0-100 score, a reason code explaining any non-deliverable verdict (no_mx, accept_all, greylisting, provider_blocks_probe...) and a did_you_mean typo suggestion (gmial.com -> gmail.com). The scoring rubric is published, not a black box: it is derived only from the signals returned in the same response, with no model and no stored data behind it.

Try it before signing up: the homepage runs 3 free verifications per hour with no account. New accounts get 100 free credits, enough to run a real test against your own list before paying anything.

Pricing is pay-as-you-go, never a subscription: $5 for 1,000 checks, $20 for 10,000, $90 for 50,000, $150 for 100,000 - down to $0.0015 per verification, 2 to 4x below the premium verifiers. Credits stay valid for 12 months from your most recent purchase, and the clock resets on every top-up. Stripe invoices, with your VAT number, are available from the dashboard.

Authentication is developer-friendly: a magic link is emailed to you (no password), and the API uses a single bearer token you generate from the dashboard. The batch endpoint accepts up to 500 addresses per request at 60 requests per minute per key, with atomic credit deduction and automatic refunds when a request fails or the client disconnects. An OpenAPI 3.0.3 specification and a Postman collection are published, so you can generate a client in any language, import it into Swagger, Insomnia or Bruno, or hand it to an agent.

Privacy by design: MailProbe never stores the addresses you verify and never caches a result. Every request re-probes live, and the address is discarded with the response - a deliberate engineering choice to comply with GDPR and avoid the data-retention practices common in this industry. Everything runs on servers in France (OVH), with no US intermediary in the chain.
