What is LumiMax?

LumiMax unlocks the full brightness potential of your MacBook Pro's XDR display. While macOS limits normal usage to 500 nits, your display is capable of up to 1600 nits — LumiMax removes that limit.

Unlike other brightness boost apps that use gamma table hacks (which distort colors and drain battery), LumiMax uses Apple's native EDR (Extended Dynamic Range) overlay. This means you get the brightest possible output at 1600 nits, with P3 wide color gamut accuracy preserved and significantly better battery efficiency.

LumiMax is also an all-in-one display controller:

  • System brightness control
  • Keyboard backlight control
  • Dark Mode / Night Shift / True Tone toggles
  • Multi-display support (Pro Display XDR, LG UltraFine)
  • Keyboard shortcut support (F1/F2)
  • Smart battery protection — auto-disables boost on battery
  • 7 languages supported

Works on any Mac with M1 Pro or later. Even without an XDR display, all features except brightness boosting are fully available.
