The user interface is pretty and clearly arranged, and the editing functionality is perfect.
A unique URL is being generated after creating a new weave, and you can save your work by clicking a button.
But it is strange that this save button has disappeared afterwards, when visiting this URL again later. Thus, further work on your code cannot be saved. You only have the opportunity to export your code.
On the other hand, it seems your work is stored in the webbrowser’s localStorage or wherever, because after visiting liveweave.com again (without the generated unique part of the URL), your work is still there, and the save button has appeared again, so that you can keep on working on your code and are able to save the changes again.
I have to say, I find this behaviour quite confusing, and I wonder why the unique URL is generated anyway.
I really like using Liveweave, mainly because of the Team Up feature. It really helped me in collaborating... the best part, this feature is completely free!
The only thing this editor has going for it compared to other coding playgrounds is it's autocomplete functionality.
The problem with liveweave is I've noticed weaves I've saved a few months earlier are no longer saved on the site.
In addition there is no support for preprocessors, no way to minify or beautify your code.
The last update was about a year ago which uses localStorage to save your code, and a year before that was when the "css3 code generator" was added.
I do gotta say that I did like this application at first and with all the flaws that I don't like about the application. It inspired me to create
kodeWeave .
Fantastic web app! Absolutely the best alternative to a desktop editor for web design/development.
