Forked from Deepin community, now independently developed. Lingmo OS is a community-led, open-source Linux desktop distribution initiated by former Deepin developers and now thriving under its own governance. It aims to deliver a beautiful, responsive, and user-centric desktop experience while pioneering a new application ecosystem based on Linglong — a secure, lightweight, and China-optimized app packaging and sandboxing system. Unlike traditional distributions tied to deb/rpm or international app stores, Lingmo OS embraces Linglong packages (.ll) that bundle apps with their dependencies, ensuring consistency, security, and easy distribution — especially tailored for Chinese users with built-in font rendering, input methods, and regional optimizations. The project is proudly independent, non-commercial, and globally welcoming. It runs on mainstream hardware (x86_64/ARM64) and is ideal for daily use, development, and education. Built on solid foundations (Debian/Ubuntu base), enhanced with a refined KDE Plasma desktop, and driven by passionate open-source contributors worldwide.
