What is LFSX?

LFSX is a self-hosted Git LFS server. It stores the large binaries of a repository on your own disk or S3-compatible bucket, so game assets, textures, models and video never count against a forge's metered LFS storage and bandwidth. Objects are stored once across repositories and addressed by digest, with optional zstd compression and encryption at rest, resumable ranged downloads, and file locking for assets that cannot be merged. Access mirrors the upstream repository: a client presents the token it would clone with, and LFSX asks GitHub, GitLab, Gitea or Forgejo what that token is allowed to do, so there are no accounts to manage. It ships as a single static binary, a container image and a Helm chart, with no database.
