Password Safe is an open source password manager created by the security expert Bruce Schneier, the inventor of the Twofish encryption algorithm. Password Safe has been security audited. However, it's not a good LastPass replacement if you use Mac, Linux or want browser integration. For that look to KeePass+KeeFox plugin (Win, Linux), or MacPass/KeeWeb (Mac). Or LessPass.

MacPass is an alternative for LastPass for Mac users who want to store their password database locally, rather than give it to some corporation. You can sync your database and it's compatible with KeePass, which is popular for Windows and Linux. No browser plugin I know of. MacPass is in beta still, but it's always worked flawlessly for me.
