KeptPDF is a set of PDF tools that run in the browser. Files are processed on your own device, so a sensitive document is not uploaded to a server to be edited.
Its main tool is redaction. Auto-detect finds Social Security numbers, names, account numbers and other personal details, you review each box, and KeptPDF removes the text underneath rather than drawing a black box over it. Scanned pages are read with OCR on the device, and the saved file is re-opened to check that no redacted text is left.
Other tools include Bates numbering with e-discovery load files, OCR, compress, merge, split, sign, fill forms, remove metadata, password protect, compare two versions, and anonymize names before sharing a document with an AI assistant.
Every tool is free for single files up to 25 MB. Pro adds clean output with no footer, unlimited bulk processing, larger files and a downloadable SHA-256 redaction certificate. A licensed command-line version runs the same redaction and document splitting in batch for records offices and integrators.
