Comments and Reviews
Exactly what I was looking for! A way to organize my offline manga collection. The interface is super easy to learn, and the fact that I can store the manga locally and then just point it to the folder is great. Also, Kavita remembers the exact volume and page that you're on, which makes it super convenient to pick up from where you left off.
This is the most horrible app I've used in a while.
First impression was not good. I tried running it through the exe file, but nothing worked. (Solved by typing localhost:5000 directly into the web browser) Since this requires the server to work, a window for it is always present in the taskbar. This is not an elegant way to do things. The way to add book(s) to this app is also unintuitive. Adding a book requires the user to read the manual to get it right. The only way to add a book is by creating a library from the options. Why is the library creation function in Options? Why can't I just drag and drop a single book? Another strange thing is that the user can only read one book at a time. This is because the button is designed in such a way that it is impossible to open a new tab.
But... Here's what made me delete this app.
epub does not display subchapters properly. It only shows the top chapters. In such an unfortunate situation, the UI for navigating to specific pages should be easy to use, but this is weird. It looks like a scroll bar, but the moment I click on it, a popup appears asking if I want to go to a specific page. There's more: apparently the option is "scroll view", but this splits the page and requires clicking rather than scrolling for the next page. I confirmed with a number of books that the problems I experienced above are not limited to a few specific books. Overall, it makes reading epub books very uncomfortable.
a good alternative to Komga
It supports various formats, it is self-hosted, docker ready and its web interface and options are friendly.
