What is Kadal Deck?

Kadal Deck is a presentation engine for people who write. A talk is one deck.mdx file in your editor and your git repository: slides split at ---, click-by-click steps, code that steps line by line, KaTeX maths, Mermaid diagrams, Excalidraw sketches, and your own React, Vue, Svelte or other components on a slide.

Every published deck comes with a live room. The audience scans a QR code, with no app and no sign-in, and follows along on their phones: polls, word clouds, timed quizzes with a leaderboard, questions they can upvote, and reactions. The presenter view shows notes that follow your clicks, the next slide, a pacing timer, a pen, and the room's questions ranked by votes.

The engine is open source (AGPL) and runs offline: present from your laptop, export to PDF, PNG or PPTX, or host it yourself. It also works as an MCP server, so AI coding agents can write, check and publish decks. The hosted service is free for public decks, with paid plans for private decks and bigger rooms.
