What is JOSM?
JOSM is an extensible editor for OpenStreetMap (OSM), written in Java.
It supports loading GPX tracks, background imagery and OSM data from local sources as well as from online sources and allows to edit the OSM data (nodes, ways, and relations) and their metadata tags.
JOSM is open source and licensed under GPL.

Comments and Reviews
JOSM looks intimidating because it is very powerful. For everyday editing (like adding shops) to more complicated tasks (adding highways, bus routes) this is the tool you'll want installed as many of those features are exposed and easy to find.
Unlimited edit features and a lot of plugins to help make edits applied faster. You need to get used to it to understand the editor. But this project is the perfect PC editor for advanced contributors.
