It contains a lot of rare data that otherwise could've been lost due to dead links, website changes etc. However, it's a known censor of 'disinformation' - which is nothing but a slanderous label put on anything that goes against the interests of the 1%. The annoying 'borrowing' policy on some rare books is ridiculous and artificially imposed too, likely for the same reasons. It's a deliberate attempt to restrict free access to certain materials for no good reason.

This is a perfect place If you are looking for old stuff. There are programs, games, books, audio, images, scans, websites - just about anything.
It is a wonderful non-profit platform allowing people to upload and download old files. They even maintain torrent servers, so you can download files faster.
It's doing a great service to humanity by preserving its abandoned and forgotten works.
I’ve used it and I like some features of it, but the censorship is a bit much. They block Kiwifarms for example but they allow other sites with more explicit content.

I'd say it's a great archive site with nice coverage; mostly older things but with a diverse collection.
Pretty impressive for sites like this to exist almost 30 years with its notability and legal battles.
Pretty recently known for censorship.
In 2020, they were sued for no good reason. Support them.
