ilo is an open-source web browser built around a sidebar. Tabs live in Spaces, and each Space keeps its own pinned tabs and Today tabs. A Today tab you haven't looked at in 12 hours moves to the archive. A command bar on Cmd+T (Ctrl+T on Windows and Linux) finds open tabs, history and commands, and two tabs can share a window in split view. Little ilo opens a quick page in a small window, and Peek opens a link as a card over the page you're on when you shift-click it.
Underneath is ungoogled-chromium with the Chrome Web Store restored, so sites work as they do in Chrome and extensions install from the store, Manifest V2 ones included. The interface is ilo's own, written in Rust with GPUI.
The full uBlock Origin is built in and blocks ads and trackers from the first page. ilo has no analytics and sends no usage data. Crash reports are sent only if you opt in. ilo's privacy page lists every service it talks to.
On the Mac, ilo imports Arc's Spaces, profiles, favorites, pinned tabs and folders. It also brings bookmarks and history over from Chrome, Firefox, Safari and other browsers on the computer, and passwords from a file you export.
There is no assistant built in. A built-in MCP server lets your own agents, such as Claude Code or Codex, work in ilo in a Space of their own. It is off until you turn it on, and agents can't read cookies or saved logins or type into password fields.
ilo is in beta on macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon and on Linux (x86-64, as a Flatpak, native on Wayland), and in alpha on Windows 10 and 11 (x64), where the installer isn't signed yet. It is free and GPL-3.0 licensed, with no license checks and no paid features.
