Hoera

Hoera is a free web app that keeps a shared birthday calendar for a group of people, such as your family, your friends, your colleagues or the parents in your child's class.

It works the other way around from a normal calendar app. Instead of collecting everyone's birthday yourself, you create a group and share one link in your WhatsApp or other group chat. Everyone who opens it adds their own birthday, and parents add their children. The calendar is reciprocal: you see their birthdays and they see yours. New people, partners and babies appear without any work on your side.

Every week you get one email with the birthdays coming up, with the age each person turns. Mark a few people as favourites to get an extra reminder a week, three days and one day ahead.

• No app to install and no account or password: your email address is your identity, confirmed with a 6-digit code.
• One flat calendar with everyone from all your groups, with no duplicates.
• Children can be added by their parents, with both parents able to manage the same child.
• Privacy by design: you only see people in groups you share, birth years are optional, email addresses are never shown, and leaving a group takes one tap.
• People who are not online, like a grandparent, can be added privately, visible only to you.
• Free. An optional paid plan delivers reminders through WhatsApp.
