HILOUP

HILO is a set of web tools for people who work with long documents and survey data: researchers, auditors, consultants, public-sector teams and thesis writers.

Upload a Word or PDF file and pick a topic: HILO gathers every passage that talks about it, with its page, so you can review, edit or export them together. Keyword search works without an account; meaning-based search uses AI.

What you can do:

• Qualitative coding of interviews: mark passages, name codes, share one codebook across several interviews and get every quote for a code with its source page.
• Concept maps built from your own document, exported as PNG or SVG.
• Review audit working papers, contracts, consulting reports or a thesis for consistency, chapter by chapter.
• Build a logic model (results chain) from a program document, with indicators and data sources.
• Align a program with the UN Sustainable Development Goals using the official targets and indicators.
• Analyze open-ended survey responses, clean and merge datasets, and match project objectives to your variables.
• Create a glossary, unify terminology, check a document against a list of requirements.
• Free Cohen's kappa, Fleiss' kappa and Krippendorff's alpha calculator.

Your files are saved to your own Google Drive or OneDrive, in a folder only HILO can access. AI features use "hilos", HILO's usage units: new accounts get 100 free hilos, and anything that doesn't use AI is free. Premium adds 325 hilos per week, tracked changes and full history.
