hexscope opens a photo, video, PDF or Office file in your browser and says in plain words what it gives away: GPS location, camera serial number, owner and author names, the exact time with its time zone, tracked changes with the deleted text, comments, hidden sheets, the folder and printer on the author's computer, text left under black boxes in a PDF, and the prompt some AI image generators embed.
It then saves a clean copy and reads it back to say what was removed and what it could not check. Photos keep their exact pixels, with no recompression.
Everything runs inside the browser tab (Rust compiled to WebAssembly): files are never uploaded, and it works offline once loaded. It reads JPEG, HEIC, PNG, WebP, GIF, TIFF, SVG, MP4/MOV, PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint (including 97–2003 files), LibreOffice, RTF, EML/MSG email and ZIP.
The same engine is a command-line tool for Windows, macOS and Linux and a GitHub Action, for checking files before they are published. Free and open source (MIT/Apache-2.0), with no account, ads or trackers. The interface is in English and Ukrainian.
