What is Hex Hive?

Hex Hive is a web tool for managing hexagonal WLED LED-strip installations. It arranges hexagons, maps LEDs to each hexagon, and operates the LED strip with preselected patterns, per-hex painting, static scenes, and animated waves. A server-side proxy handles HTTP and a WebSocket subscriber mirrors the live device state to the user interface.

Hex Hive features include a layout designer for arranging hex tiles, an LED mapper for mapping hex tiles to LED ranges, and a per-hex painting feature for color selection. It also offers patterns, scenes, and waves with a curated catalog and a server-side render loop for animated waves. The live state mirroring feature ensures the strip's actions match what users see in the browser. Hex Hive uses JSON files in data/ and logs in logs/hex-hive.log, and doesn't require a database or cloud.
