  • Online  The same interface runs in a browser against a Helicon daemon on your own machine or server.
  • Mac  Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel. Not notarized yet, so the first launch needs right-click, then Open.
  • Linux  x86_64 AppImage. Needs libfuse2 on some distributions.
  • Windows  Signed installer with auto-update. Needs the Muse Code CLI, which now runs natively on Windows; Muse Code inside WSL2 also works.
  • Self-Hosted  Run the daemon on any machine with Node 22+ and reach it from a browser with a token. Cross-origin access needs TLS in front of it.

What is Helicon?

Helicon is a free, open-source desktop and web app for Meta's Muse Code CLI. It drives the muse command already installed on your machine over Muse Code's own session protocol, so Muse Code stays the agent: your login, your subscription, your approvals. There is no API key and no second bill.

Threads from every project sit in one sidebar and resume in a click, including ones started in the terminal. Edits arrive as inline diffs where they happened, approvals are surfaced one by one rather than batched, and a file viewer beside the thread reads source with syntax highlighting, previews and edits Markdown, and opens images, video and PDFs. A usage page prices each thread at published API rates so you can see what your subscription actually did.

Runs Muse Code natively on Windows, macOS and Linux. The same interface also runs in a browser against a daemon on another machine. MIT licensed.
