What is Haptic Emulator?

Haptic Emulator is an app that allows users to play 24 vintage gaming systems on iPhone and iPad. The systems include NES, SNES, Game Boy, NDS, N64, PlayStation, PSP, Dreamcast, Genesis, Saturn, Atari, arcade cabinets, MS-DOS, among others. The app displays the user's game library as 3D boxes on a virtual shelf, and automatically downloads the box art for each game. It uses the Taptic Engine to provide tactile feedback with every button press and game rumble feature.

The app offers system-specific controls, such as analog sticks, N64 C-buttons, DS stylus, DOS keyboard and trackpad. The on-screen pad can be rearranged and stick sensitivity can be adjusted per game. It supports MFi, PlayStation and Xbox controllers, with options for per-player remapping and two-player local play. Other features include save states and battery saves, cheat codes, screen filters, import from Files, zipped ROMs and multi-disc PlayStation games, in-game disc swapping, landscape mode with floating controls, AirPlay support, blackout mode for night play, and support for 25 languages.
