No, it is free of charge and it is expensive to do so
Free of charge MY @$$! Now they limiting usage and they are trying to forced their users to pay up after only just a few usage and it didn't complain about the rate limit. the higher rate limit was a issue before and now usage limit is a bigger problem! I will not recommend it. Its best to seek a altenative that we don't have to download and it must be online! I don't want stupid downloads like Jan.
There are better FOSS alternatives, obviously, but at least Grok is open-source, unlike many popular models. (Looking at you, ChatGPT and OpenAI.)
Only version 1 of Grok was open source. Every version after that has been closed source.
Musk has an "open washing" strategy calling stuff open source when its companies usually publish a specific version of the code to public and don't maintain the open source code. See Twitter (now X) algorithme and Grok
