I used it for quite a long time, always frustrated by something about it. For example, I always had to use the deprecated Microsoft uninstall troubleshooter just to upgrade the f'n thing every time. EVERY. TIME.

And it was only just very recently they stopped forcing the main UI to be "always on top".

And it still doesn't work properly with the task bar.

Way better than the AudioWizard software that comes with Asus laptops.

Terrible. All the ambience slider does is produce an annoying echo sound, which would be easy enough to avoid if it weren't for most presets including it. Few presets sound distinct to begin with. It also does some driver voodoo, which makes for inconsistent output.

I gave up after installing the most recent version. FxSound destroyed all the sound output on my system, giving it an awful phase-shift sound. They probably ramped the gain up into the stratosphere, but I gave up. I'm done troubleshooting this trashware.

Now I run Equalizer APO, Peace, and SoundSwitch. Yeah, it was a little bit more setup, but it works SO much better now and I can actually CONTROL my audio now.

FOSS but very limited. Lacks a preamp and some of the settings like "bass boost" and "surround sound" are dubiously unmarked
