What is Hyphanet?
Hyphanet (former Freenet) is free software which lets you anonymously share files, browse and publish "freesites" (web sites accessible only through Freenet) and chat on forums, without fear of censorship. Freenet is decentralised to make it less vulnerable to attack, and if used in "darknet" mode, where users only connect to their friends, is very difficult to detect.

Really decentralized non-proxy blob-based opennet/darknet with nice apps ecosystem and full privacy sharing
It is written in Java, so, eats a lot af resources. Compare the excellent i2pd written in C++ and the obsolete Java I2P!
Network for pedophiles. 50% of content on freenet is child porn, 20 % delusional anarchist extremists and 10% brainless nazis. Other 20% is dead blogs from tech activists.
It is a network for anonymous communications. Any person can use it to exercise his right to freedom of communication in circumvention of state censorship.
I2P, Freenet & ZeroNet are entire ecosystems each one. They are not only gates to circumvent censorship and you can't use them as VPNs.
