Kind of a gigantic leap in assumption given that the devs were not the reason for the infected executable, hackers managed to redirect some of the download traffic to an infected executable and when the devs discovered it, they fixed the vulnerability on their site. This would be valid if the devs had a pattern of these kinds of issues, which they do not.

This is by far the best download manager for mac. The reason for that is the small amount of download managers available for mac.

What is Free Download Manager?
FDM accelerates downloads by splitting files into sections and then downloading them simultaneously. In addition, Free Download Manager allows you to adjust traffic usage, organize downloads, control file priorities for torrents, efficiently download large files and resume broken downloads. FDM can boost all your downloads up to 10 times, process media files of various popular formats, drag&drop URLs right from a web browser as well as simultaneously download multiple files!
[With version 5.0 and newer the source code is not available and the GNU General Public License agreement has been removed from the app.]

this is surely the most old software i have on my pc XD.
the best download manager, but the dev seem to be stopped… It is a pity.
Free Download Manager are not really comparable to other download manager, I have tested many as FlashGet, internet download manager… but the problem is always the same, they are updated but the functions are too limited, as if they had been limited on purpose… .
Free Download Manager is distinguished by these features and options:
The organization of downloads goes a bit like FlashGet, it is possible to give names to groups and suib-groups, and provide these with specific file extensions to place downloads in the correct folder.
then the settings, really full, bandwidth management, allocation of sounds, popups, planning, management of downloads and mirrors, automatic setting of speed… it really has everything you need!
briskly* that the project be put to new, or an alternative that is REALLY for FDM!
… … … … … … … … … … …
*sorry i can't find the correct translation for the word "vivement" in french ^^".
The fifth version no longer monitors the clipboard. It can't import multiple links. And torrents not working for me.
No longer open source. RIP. Off to find an alternative. At least I'm on the right website.

Fantastic browser to client integration works near flawlessly. But a problem I currently have with FDM is that, depending on where I'm downloading from, some items will require renaming, whereas on JDownloader there was no issue. This is just a minor annoyance I can get past. Also, I have concerns with why they chose to close source their code, but besides that, I haven't found many issues with the program.
It's so user-friendly like everyone, even a kid can understand the UI.
Best download manager ever.
