What is Flo Cafe?

FloCafe is a free, MIT-licensed, open-source restaurant POS built for real food-service workflows. It helps restaurants, cafes, bakeries, food trucks, and quick-service counters manage orders, tables, menus, kitchen display, KOT printing, receipt printing, staff access, reports, backups, loyalty, and local data storage. Unlike subscription-first POS systems, FloCafe is designed around ownership. The core POS is free to use, inspect, and adapt, with no license meter or paywall for essential restaurant operations. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and stores operational data locally with SQLite, so restaurants can keep control of their sales history, menus, staff setup, and service records. FloCafe is especially useful for operators who want an offline-capable POS, open-source transparency, flexible restaurant workflows, and the ability to test the software on their own hardware before committing to live service. It supports dine-in, takeaway, delivery-style workflows, kitchen display screens, staff roles, receipt and thermal printers, backups, multilingual operation, and cross-platform deployment. FloCafe does not force a built-in payment processor. Restaurants that need deeply integrated card payments, payroll, or enterprise multi-location back-office features should test their requirements carefully. For teams that value local ownership, no recurring software fee, and open-source control, FloCafe is a practical alternative to many cloud POS platforms.
