We were looking for a 'backend as a service' to get up and running with quickly, but which would eventually scale. Firebase has been perfect. Backed by GCP so great ecosystem and easy to 'break out' into more powerful (but complex) options. Firestore was amazing but had limitations – recent MongoDB compatibility solves that.

What is Firebase?
Firebase, provided by Google, is a backend service and application development platform. It uses AI, cloud infrastructure, and cross-platform SDKs for efficient app development. Firebase offers tools and infrastructure for app creation and business growth.
Firebase is designed for fast development of quality mobile apps. It has a range of features that can be combined as needed. The process is streamlined with intuitive APIs in a single SDK, allowing developers to focus on customer needs.
Firebase Analytics, a free analytics solution, is integrated into Firebase. It offers insights into user behavior, aiding data-driven decisions. It works with other Firebase features for detailed analysis of metrics like click-through rates and app crashes.
Firebase supports cross-platform app delivery with APIs in single SDKs for iOS, Android, JavaScript, and C++. This allows expansion to different platforms without changing existing infrastructure. Most Firebase features are free, offering scalability for any project size. There are also four paid features with a free tier, and two paid plans for larger needs.

Fast, secure, feature-rich. Lots of resources available on their YouTube channel and documentation.

Great no sql database
A big vendor lock in. You cannot use other backend and are always tied to paying google
Great platform. provides me with tools and infrastructure to build better apps. Helps grow my business
Great platform. Very helpful.
Hey, guys. I used to run my app with Parse and was a very happy user. Got really bummed out when Facebook decided to shut it down so I migrated my app to Firebase. However, in the end, it didn't work out, coming from Parse the whole "json-file-as-a-database" approach is rather different and is quite limiting for what my app needed to do. I decided to try Backendless (https://backendless.com) and was extremely pleased with it. The development model is very similar to Parse and they go way beyond on the features and the capabilities of the system. Support for related data is fantastic and I can add my own server-side logic with JS. Configuring security for your data is very straightforward and I didn't need to learn any new formats for it. Was able to migrate in under 6 weeks. The support team is very responsive (compare to Firebase where getting a response from the team is akin to winning a lottery). Hope this feedback will be useful if you consider migrating off of Firebase.
