I used a previous version of FileZilla Server and it worked just fine for years -- and then I made the mistake of updating to a newer version. Then, with the same configuration, I started getting impenetrable "550 Permission denied" and "550 Couldn't open the file or directory" errors. Fast-forward several versions of FileZilla Server. I just did a clean install, and now, I get "550 Couldn't open the file or directory" errors with plain FTP, but also "GnuTLS error -110: The TLS connection was non-properly terminated" errors with FTPS. Nothing I tried worked. Of course, the FileZilla Server author blames the client whenever users report such issues. Right. Good one. So I install Xlight FTP Server, and it works with no issues. Install Baby FTP Server, and it works with no issues. It's also cute how the author redesigned FileZilla Server with a bare-bones GUI and no verbiage whatsoever on how to configure it, and charges for a manual. Adorable. FileZilla Server is now available also for Linux and MacOS, with a new GUI and support for Let's Encrypt ®. Check it out!
We are using it almost every day with WinSCP.
It is reliable, easy to setup and secure.
Whenever I needed to setup a quick FTP server for LAN use I'd turn to FileZilla Server. Unfortunately, the default download seems to be the SourceForge Installer which pushes browser add-ons and other software that the user didn't come to get. I can not longer recommend FileZilla because of this.

Have you actually asked for support on the official forum? If so, can you link the discussion?

I'm not obligated to ask for support before writing a review. But yes, for one of these issues, I did, and received no reply -- which is OK, because they're not obligated to help me. Also, I found alternatives that worked like decent software should, so I had no further inclination to get the issues resolved.
The FileZilla Server UX is awful, and that's not going to change. And it's pretty ridiculous to expect someone to have this experience with a bit of software and then give it a positive review.

seems to be a good and fast ftp server BUT. the devs seems to ignore the issues . especially the one where hidden folders are shown and there aren't any options for it. they say its because off Filezilla is using windows settings for this. but that is BS. even with this settings sett to hide files, they are shown when accessing the ftp server. Also they are saying that you aren't supposed to share root drive folder off your drives like e:\ rather use e:\folderhere . witch also is really bad design if you ask me. So if this matter to you as it does for me. i would recommend to find something else that is better designed and have better minded devs.
filezilla FTP server not starting automatically after reboot.
Kind of a bummer, but they dropped support for Windows XP and Server 2003 almost a year ago. Server 2003 was still supported by Microsoft then.
