file2markdown information
What is file2markdown?
file2markdown converts 15+ formats (PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, EPUB, images, scanned files via OCR, and any public URL) into clean, structured Markdown for RAG pipelines, Obsidian, and AI workflows — using real extraction engines (pdf-inspector for PDFs, Microsoft MarkItDown for Office formats, AI OCR for scans) rather than model regeneration.
What makes it more than a converter: a hosted MCP server listed in the official MCP registry (ai.file2markdown/file2markdown) lets Claude, Cursor, and any MCP client convert documents inside a conversation with no signup; the site's pages register WebMCP tools for browser agents (Chrome origin trial); and a free website-to-markdown tool handles URLs. Files are deleted immediately after conversion — nothing is stored.
