Exaba is software-defined, S3-compatible object storage built for managed service providers (MSPs), cloud service providers and data centres. Its LocalScaler™ architecture lets service providers run their own regional storage cloud, under their own brand, on hardware they own, rather than reselling hyperscaler capacity.
Exaba runs on standard x86 servers from vendors such as HPE, Dell, Lenovo and Supermicro. It scales up by adding drives and enclosures and scales out by adding nodes, with SmartScale rebalancing data automatically and without downtime. Clusters can be federated across sites under a global namespace.
It works as an immutable backup target out of the box. Object lock protects backups from ransomware, and the platform plugs into Veeam, Commvault, Acronis, rclone and other S3-compatible tools. Replication, immutability and encryption are built in, not sold as add-ons.
Exaba is designed for multi-tenancy from the ground up. Every customer is an isolated tenant, and the platform includes end-user billing, white labelling and monitoring and management tools. Because the service provider owns the infrastructure, data stays in-region and under local control, and there are no egress or API fees for reading data back.
Exaba is written in Rust, a memory-safe language that eliminates entire classes of vulnerabilities. It is sold through MSPs and channel partners.
