ERA is rough around the edges, but it has potential. I have only used the app sporadically, but these are my initial thoughts:

  1. Why do I need to create an account just to download the app, when the app itself is local-only?
  2. Will the to-be-implemented Sync option be paid? It's not mentioned, and it might be a deal breaker for many (incl. me).
  3. The UI is in need of some REAL work. The Overview page is amateurish. The actual writing UI looks like it's made for writing code, not text-based notes (monospace fonts, no markdown syntax highlighting, etc.).
  4. Why is there an export button right ON TOP of the notes? That is something I haven't seen in any other notes app. (While we are at it, also consider moving the Delete button to a place where the user won't mistakenly click it!)

Thank you for your feedback on ERA. I'd like to address each of your points.

We have introduced an account system to improve our connection with users. As soon as ERA exits beta, we will offer our beta users a significant discount for a lifetime deal.

There will probably be two options for syncing. 2.1 The first will be free and allow you to sync your notes to a cloud service of your choice (Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox, Nextcloud, or GitHub). 2.2 The second option will be ERA syncing to our own cloud, which will be a paid service. Both options are optional, as we prioritize privacy and focus on local storage for sensitive notes and documentation.

Most of our users have reported that they appreciate the code-editor look and feel. It makes it easier to integrate into their tech stack and workflow. Some may find it unconventional, as it's different from a typical note-taking app. We strive to make the app as simple and user-friendly as possible, and a feature-rich interface could be distracting, which is the opposite of what we aim to achieve with a productivity app.

We have created a ticket for markdown syntax highlighting and will implement it soon. As we're still in beta, many things will be improved and adjusted in the future.
