Anant Agarwal, former Director of MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, serves as the first president of edX' and is a very popular online education service in the education & reference category. There are more than 50 alternatives to edX, not only websites but also apps for a variety of platforms, including Android, iPhone, Android Tablet and iPad. The best alternative is Khan Academy, which is free. Other great sites and apps similar to edX are freeCodeCamp, Coursera, Codecademy and Udemy.

    edX is mainly a Online Education Service but alternatives to it may also be Code Learning Services. Filter by these if you want a narrower list of alternatives or looking for a specific functionality of edX.

      PERCE_NEIGE It's not a MOOC platform, but a course platform. But except from that it's not so different than a MOOC, because you have short modules (all are free) and you can progress in knowledge in many fields. It's for pre-universitary student and also for universitary student (because nobody knows anything). I don't understand the previous comment, "not supported by many schools", you don't need to use it with a school.
