What is Earmark?

Earmark is a personal budgeting app built on envelope budgeting. When money arrives you set it aside for rent, groceries, bills, savings and goals, so you always know what is safe to spend.

It runs in any current browser on phone, tablet and computer, and can be added to the home screen. There is nothing to download, and it keeps working offline. The budget is stored only on your own device: there is no bank login, no adverts and no tracking.

Main features:

  • Category goals, with a clear view of what is left in each category
  • One-line entry, for example "250 groceries yesterday"
  • Paste a bank alert message to add a transaction
  • Import bank statements from CSV and Excel files
  • Shared household costs, showing who owes whom
  • Spending and net worth reports
  • Any currency, including lakh and crore formatting
  • Budget months that can start on payday
  • Light and dark themes, and backup to a file you can keep wherever you like

Earmark is free to try for 30 days with every feature and no card. After that it is a single payment with no subscription, and one licence covers three devices.

Sync between your own devices is available as an optional add-on called Device Sync: a one-year pass that keeps your phone, tablet and computer in step, with end-to-end encryption. It is not cloud storage. It never renews by itself, and the app works fully without it.
