What is Driftlog?

Driftlog is a travel diary you never write in.

You grant "Always" location once and then leave the app closed. It uses iOS significant-location-change monitoring, a coarse and low-power signal the phone is already computing, to record which countries, regions and cities you passed through and on what dates, and paints them onto a world map. There are no check-ins and nothing to type.

It can also read the GPS EXIF already sitting in your photo library and reconstruct the trips you took before you installed it, so you do not start with an empty map.

There is no account and no server. Your travel history stays on the device. The only outbound request the app makes is reverse geocoding: a coordinate is sent out to be turned into a place name.

What it does not do: it records places, not routes, so it will never show the road you drove. There is no trip planning, no social feed and no web version. iOS 17 or later only.
