Said about Dr. Folder as an alternative
it's much cheaper (3 licensees less than 1 Folder marker license ), can change the default folder icon and has free folder sets for download. It's less easy to do the change though - Folder Marker has a context menu sub menu for that

It's certainly the cheapest option compared to the competition and can do more than most. The default system icon for folder can be changed, too ! Free additional icon sets are available and it's easy integrating additional sets of your own icons. It would become perfect if it would be possible to open a sub menu of commonly used customizations like Folder Marker does, so that you don't have to go thru the main window program. All in all it's the best alternative on the market when you consider the paid versions.
