What is dpli?

The ADHD brain is a pattern-finding machine which can be distracted by repetitive sounds. Most focus apps use repeating MP3s, but this can actually cause distraction due to the brain's instinct to detect repetition. Once the brain identifies the loop, focus is broken.

dpli is a focus tool designed for the restless mind. It doesn't use files, loops or patterns, but creates unique sounds mathematically in real-time on your device. With no repetition for your ADHD to latch onto, it provides a constantly changing acoustic environment conducive to hyperfocus.

dpli works for ADHD by preventing neural adaptation through eliminating loops. It uses deep, low-frequency soundscapes to calm a racing mind and provide a mental anchor for analytical tasks. Using HRTF processing, it creates a 3D soundscape, providing a sense of physical separation from your surroundings.

Each preset is validated against a neural mass model to ensure effectiveness at the cortical level. Presets include "Shield" for masking sudden sounds and speech, "Flow" for engaging the mind without fatigue, and "Deep Relax" for decompressing after sensory overload.

Different noise colors are used for various tasks. Brown noise is used to calm internal noise, pink noise for creative flow, speech-shaped noise for masking human voices and white noise for maintaining alertness during mundane tasks.

dpli operates entirely offline and is privacy-focused. All sound is generated on your device, with no data downloaded, no tracking and no accounts. It's optimized for battery efficiency and can be used anywhere, even without internet access.
