What is DockView for macOS Dock?
DockView is a lightweight enhancement for macOS that enriches the Dock with window-preview capabilities. Rather than replacing or modifying Apple’s Dock, it acts as a seamless add-on: when you hover your cursor over an app’s icon in the Dock, DockView displays live thumbnails of all that application’s open windows. From those previews you can directly switch to a window, minimize or unminimize it, or close it — streamlining your window management workflow.
Key Features & Benefits • Rapid window switching: Instantly identify and jump to the specific window you need, even among many instances. • Inline window controls: From the preview thumbnails you can minimize, unminimize, or close windows without opening the app first. • Non-intrusive design: DockView does not modify the Dock or system files — it layers extra functionality without replacing macOS’s native Dock. • macOS & hardware support: Requires macOS 11.5 (Big Sur) or newer; supports both Intel and Apple Silicon (M1–M4) machines. • Accessibility & security permissions: To operate, DockView must be granted Accessibility permission (to control and switch windows) and Screen Recording permission (to read window titles and generate previews).
