What is DockLens?

DockLens is a free, open-source (GPLv3) menu bar app for macOS 26 and later. Hover an app's Dock icon and a panel shows live thumbnails of every window of that app, including minimized windows and windows on other Spaces. Click a thumbnail to switch to it, or close, minimize or full-screen it from the preview.

Windows you closed with the red button in apps that keep running (such as Notion or Slack) stay in the list as closed windows, and one click reopens them. Hovering Calendar shows today's and tomorrow's events with a one-click Join button for video calls, and Spotify or Music get a small playback bar. DockLens also works without the Screen Recording permission, listing windows by icon and title instead of thumbnails.

It is event driven (about 0% CPU and no wakeups when idle on Apple silicon), makes no network requests except an optional update check against the GitHub API, and ships with 34 interface languages (AI-assisted translations, corrections welcome). It is not notarized yet, so the first launch needs "Open Anyway" in System Settings.
