It helped me to recover my on-going thesis folder that was lost on a move from my laptop to a backup-disk -_-". the coincidence... Fortunately, this application recovered the files in the folder although not all the file names and the folders' hierarchy were recovered. But it let me go to sleep well that night. Thank you!
Don't waste your time. It is not "free with limited functionality". It's free to install so you can be forced to pay to do anything. It also didn't find anything of use for me, so a waste of time. Immediate uninstall.
After days of waiting i finally got back terabytes of data from a hard drive i formated by mistake thank you so much!!!
Limited to 500MB on Window free edition
The worst ever app i have wasted my time with. It is poorly useless. It is NOT free and w'd not recommend it at all. :( i wouldn't even put a star since it is not deserve it but i'd had to to write my troth.

Disk Drill 4 is the biggest update in the program’s history, the software has received significant improvements and refinements, including the new UI and Dark Mode. It’s more intuitive and easier to navigate and displays all of the functionality of the application in its main window.
Finds a lot of stuff, however, it doesn't appear to show them as their original file names, nor does it show the original file structure. Makes recovery way too painful. An Explorer-like tree view with all original names is a must.
