Directus uses Database Introspection & Abstraction to analyze your database structure and create an abstraction layer to handle all complex details. This method is compatible with any major SQL database, allowing you to connect or disconnect Directus to your database without affecting your existing data model, preventing vendor lock-in.
After introspection and abstraction, Directus creates REST and GraphQL API endpoints for data management with granular control. It also provides CLI tools for file management and a comprehensive JavaScript SDK. Super powerful tool, so simple but complex and rarely to find tutorials
None of the alternatives listed (so far) seem to really be the same sort of thing. I've been trying to understand this software today. The only thing I have figured out at this point is that it is not like WordPress, Blogger, etc.
Fast, fairly simple but powerful headless CMS. Not 100% stable now, but promising.
