What is Cool Retro Term?
Cool Retro Term (CRT) is a terminal emulator which mimics the look and feel of the old cathode tube screens. It has been designed to be eye-candy, customizable, and reasonably lightweight.
Included are an array of packaged profiles (themes) that you can fully customize to get the exact, retro look you'd like.
This terminal emulator works under Linux and OSX and requires Qt 5.2 or higher.

It just looks good and works. It's not really something you need, but you want it anyway. There are many beautiful effects that you can combine and customize.
Excellent! I am only missing two features and those are sound and a light effect! It would be nice to have that typical Hollywood printing sound that gets played back when a program delivers text output. Some zappy light effects on lines that can be seen on terminals in the Aliens movies would also be neat.
