Comments and Reviews
Comodo is the best. Its everything in one. Monkeybear you can easily turn off the firewall or the defense+.It has everything from antivirus to dns servers.
I have been using CIS for years. This is not bad at first sight, it may do helpful things, but from time to time i see it is utilizing too much resources despite i disable all its modules except firewall. Sometimes it make my computer slower responding. Have to kill cavwp.exe sometimes (i am not aware about any built in feature to restart it gracefuly) as it is swapping, it also show intensive disk activity regarding logs no matter if logs are put to windows or to comodo format or none selected. These slowdowns may not be noticeable on SSD drives.
Comodo is not a good solution, but unfortunately there is none like it that is free. Program requires rather high level of knowledge to use safely. It starts processes with very high resource consumption without displaying it in its interface. There is possibility to choose create custom rules for FW, but program sometime change them. Notifications and choice dialogs are sometimes too fast to react or even read. Sometimes delete false positives. I use it as long as I can remember. Recommendation: use it, but be careful.
Comodo's forum was hacked two weeks ago. They FORGOT to patch their forum. So i can't trust them or their products.
"Cybersecurity company Comodo has become one of the major victims of a recently disclosed vBulletin 0-day vulnerability, exposing login account information of over nearly 245,000 users registered with the Comodo Forums websites." "It's worth noting that Comodo forum was hacked on September 29, almost four days after vBulletin developers released a patch to let administrators address the vulnerability, but the company failed to apply the patches on time."
Hackernews article
Crashed my system windows cannot boot and recovery options fail. I need to do a clean reinstall of windows 7 attempt to restore my data. I do not recommend this software. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
It has a complete AV suite with Container, Firewall, Browser, AV, and some other cool stuff. Test it.
I actually liked the real time protection on this one. But I seriously question its results. False positives all over the place. Also, I wonder if it is wise to have a combined antivirus/firewall (since I also use comodo firewall). I have also experienced temp lockups on scanning files and sometimes the software demands a reboot for removal (of some obvious false positive no less). Also, I had periodic activity spikes that really bugged me a lot.
