What is CloserTo?
CloserTo is a real-time multiplayer quiz and estimation game that runs entirely in the browser. There is no download and no account needed. Guests can join a lobby with an invite code and start playing right away.
Everyone answers the same question at the same time, and how close you get is what counts. There are three question types:
• Number: estimate a value, for example the height of Mount Everest in meters. • Closer: pick which of four options comes closest to a given target. • Geo: pin a place on an interactive world map, scored by distance.
Instead of plain points, CloserTo runs on HP. Every answer lands in an accuracy tier. A tier S answer heals you, a bad guess costs HP, and at 0 HP you are knocked out and spectate the rest of the match. The last player standing wins. A speed bonus rewards answering early, so hesitating gets expensive.
Game modes:
• Normal: 10 rounds, 30 seconds per question, 5,000 HP. • Hardcore: 10 rounds, 10 seconds per question, 3,000 HP. • Custom: 1 to 20 rounds, 10 to 120 seconds, adjustable HP. • Ranked: fixed rules, no hints, skill rating for the global leaderboard. • Twitch chat mode: viewers play along from the stream chat, up to 128 at once, no sign-up.
For streamers, a chat lobby turns the whole audience into players. Viewers simply type their answer in chat, and a dedicated OBS overlay shows the running round, the scoreboard and the reveal on stream.
Around the matches there is progression: XP across 100 levels, an in-game currency called brains, achievements, and cosmetics such as avatar frames, streak effects and animated titles. Ranked and casual leaderboards track who is actually closest.
The pool holds more than 2,100 questions across 17 categories, from geography and history to space, music, food and sports. The interface and the questions are available in German and English, and answers can be shown in metric or US units.
Free to play, no ads, no pay-to-win.
