Chromogen is a standalone photo editor for Windows and macOS. It develops RAW and JPEG images with a film-emulation workflow based on 13 film stocks measured from real film. Its Develop workspace includes exposure and development controls, grain, halation, film borders, local masks, colour-grading tools, retouching, lens correction, and GPU-based rendering.
The application also includes a folder-based photo library for culling and organising files, moodboards, calendars and design-oriented output tools. These include layouts for social-media posts, contact sheets, instant-film prints, print export, photo-book layouts and image mockups. Edits are non-destructive and stored in sidecar files beside the original photos; image processing is performed locally except when an optional user-configured AI assistant is enabled.
Chromogen can be used as an external editor with Lightroom Classic and Capture One, and can import several preset and colour-profile formats as native looks. It is sold with monthly and annual subscriptions as well as a lifetime licence, and includes a four-day trial.
