So, sadly, the packs seems to no longer be updated again. While it works great most of the time, I have a VP8 webm video it does not play without artefacts.

Or, just use VLC? VLC Media Player icon VLC Media Player

No codecs necessary.

VLC is not codecless, it has built in codecs that aren't run externally from the VLC player

Combine with Media Player Classic (included in CCCP), and it will play mostly anything you download off the internet (anime videos included). Designed by codec pack experts to reduce software bloat and conflicts due to multiple codec packs. Love this - first thing I install on a multimedia PC.
