CamScanPDF

CamScanPDF is a free document scanner that runs as a web app, so there's no app store download. Point your phone camera at a page, and CamScanPDF finds the edges, straightens the page, removes shadows and recognises the text. Every invoice, contract and receipt then becomes a searchable PDF.

It installs straight from the browser in a few seconds on iPhone, Android, PC and Mac, and opens like any other app with its own icon and window.

Key features: • Live edge detection: the camera finds the page as you aim, and the torch switches on automatically in low light. • Auto crop and straighten: skewed photos become flat, square pages. You can fine-tune the corners by hand with a built-in magnifier. • Shadow-free filters: magic colour, greyscale or crisp black and white, with shadows from your hand and phone cleaned away. • OCR in English and Afrikaans: search your scans by title or by any word inside them. • Multi-page PDFs: add pages, drag to reorder, and re-crop or change the filter at any time. The original photo is always kept. • Sync across devices: scan on your phone and download on your laptop. • Works offline: no signal? Scans are queued and upload automatically when you're back online.

Privacy-first: no ads, no tracking or analytics cookies, no watermarks, and your documents are never used to train AI models or sold to anyone. Deleted documents are removed from the server straight away.

CamScanPDF is currently free, with every feature included. Built in South Africa.
