My personal ranking of the 4 PDF-printers is:
Advantages of doPDF over Bullzip PDF PRINTER, CutePDF Writer and qvPDF
With one click you can make this folder to the standard folder where to store doPDF-files
Advantages of doPDF and Bullzip PDF PRINTER over CutePDF Writer and qvPDF
PROs & CONs of Bullzip PDF PRINTER over CutePDF Writer and qvPDF
PRO: You can hook to open the target-folder with the new PDF-file after creating it
CON: the suggested filename has all word 2 times instead only one time. To delete it costs time
PROs & CONs of CutePDF
CON: Installation of Ask Toolbar is suggested, but can be hooked away
CON: Installation of Driver Updater is suggested, but can be declined by hooking it away
PROs & CONs of qvPDF
PRO: qvPDF is a PDF creator for Windows, but you can also merge & split pdf-documents.
CON: it is difficult to select the folder and name of the printed PDF-File
CON: No complete uninstalling with deleting all files and folders . In case of a reinstallation because of a printing problem, you have the problem again because the old settings are used again.
CON: I could not stop the printing of a document sent to the printer
Thank you!

Simple, effective, efficient in size
I have installed Bullzip PDF Printer (free edition) on my PC, which runs Windows 7 SP1 64 bit. This application is free (up to 10 users) and it is quite complete. The dialog window, which is opened during the PDF conversion, is plenty of features. I can also select the advanced dialog window, which is more complete and equipped with a helping panel, which explains each single option. Some drawbacks of this application:
Still a very valid choice on Windows 10. Even with the Microsoft print to PDF function, Bullzip gives you more options and results in smaller files sizes. I wanted to export a simple word doc with custom fonts and no images. Words own export to pdf either changed the text to bitmap, or if disabled resulted in thick black lines. Using the print to PDF of Microsoft did result in the correct rendering, but the pdf was 900KB in size for just text. Trying Bullzip resulted in 47KB. I also like that you can set the title and author and the default page view for the PDF. However it does take some time until the save dialog opens, so the program is not that fast.
On my desktop Dell, Bullzip PDF Printer installs itself smoothly (W7/64). On my HP EliteBook 2530p laptop I was never able ton install it. None of the solutions present on their forum was able to help me. I gave up. So, try it if you want, but do not be surprised if it does not install without any solution (their install log file is useless most of the time). When installed how ever it is a very nice PDF printer, works fine.
How can you say the install log is useless most of the time. You had one time it installed correctly and one time it didn't which means one time you may have read the install log. For all you know it was your computers fault.
Dear ruskelljd, When I wrote I tried to install it on and HP EliteBook and said I was "never able" to install it it was clear in my mind, even if I did not mention it, that I tried many times, attempting to clean the registry from any reference to Bullzip in case that could have been a cause of the pb. I also made a thorough search of any possible file left during install and tried to remove all of them. Each time the install log did not provide me of any clue why it could not install the product (no err msg nor code).
That is "How I CAN say..."
I could nevetheless install other PDF print and editing software as well as other Tools without any troubles. So I doubt that the problem lied in my computer's configuration rather than a case not tested by Bullzip. But you are entitled to your own opinion, for what it is worth.
It's an old comment, however I started installing Bullzip PDF Printer long time before, and I did it on tens of systems, running from Windows XP up to Windows 11, without any issues. Maybe it's me tens of times luckier :D or the OP was a bit unlucky with that PC...
Requires GPL Ghostscript. It's not an all-in-one solution like doPDF for example...
