Comment summary: BrowseControl is highly appreciated for its ease of use, user-friendly console, and effective web filtering. It is particularly praised by small businesses for increasing office productivity and securing networks. Users enjoy the ability to block non-work websites easily, supported by excellent customer service. However, some comments suggest that it is more suited for business environments rather than for personal self-control and note its unavailability for macOS users.

We're a small business office using CurrentWare's BrowseControl and BrowseReporter.

Our employees were wasting their time on the Internet when the manager was not supervising them. In order to keep them under control, we installed CurrentWare's BrowseReporter to monitor websites that they've been visiting.

After we discovered the websites that were unproductive and not work related, we blocked them using BrowseControl.

I installed this on 5 of my offices. Quick setup and easy to configure. We love everything about it so far.

According to AlternativeTo, BrowseControl runs on Windows but not macOS. Can anyone recommend a similar app for macOS?

It is a good alternative versus other software with same functions but quite expensive

What is BrowseControl?

BrowseControl's content filtering features allow administrators to configure the internet and application usage permissions of the students, employees, and patrons that use their managed computers.

Content filtering policies for websites, applications, and files can be granularly controlled with filters based on URL, categories, internet ports, and file types. Each configuration option can be customized based on users, devices, departments, or Organizational Units (OUs) to provide a solution that fits the organization's exact needs.

BrowseControl's filtering features are most often used for preventing access to malware-infested websites, productivity management, CIPA compliance, and enforcing acceptable use policies by proactively preventing employees from accessing inappropriate or unproductive websites.
