A front-end or user interface (UI) is the presentation and interaction layer of an app or website. Most modern emulator apps have basic game list UIs that you can interact with using a mouse/keyboard but not a game controller.

Nostlan is available as an AppImage file, which makes it one of the, I think, few portable emulators on Linux Just put it on a USB drive with some games and you can play your them on any Linux, macOS, or Windows computer

§ Pros • FOSS. • Emulator of the following platforms: 3DS, Arcade, DS, GBA, Genesis, N64, NES, PS2, PS3, PSP, SNES, Switch, Wii, Wii U, Xbox, Xbox 360. • Supports the interface in the following languages: English, German, Hebrew, Dutch and Russian.

§ Cons • No portable version. • Begs for money for functionality that is not available in the free version. • Works only in the terrible Big Picture interface for smartphones and TV. • The developers claim that the launcher can install emulators itself, but none of them installed out of the box when selecting the appropriate command, requiring, at a minimum, manual installation. • No support for Sinclair ZX Spectrum and MS-DOS. And there are no plans to. • As a result, the application is pretty useless for me.

What is Nostlan?

A front-end or user interface (UI) is the presentation and interaction layer of an app or website. Most modern emulator apps have basic game list UIs that you can interact with using a mouse/keyboard but not a game controller.

Nostlan looks similar to media viewers like Kaleidescape and AppleTV. You can interact with it using a mouse or game controller. Unlike other popular front-end launchers for video game emulators, Nostlan has a minimalistic design that prioritizes box art, not metadata.
