ZBackup is a globally-deduplicating backup tool, based on the ideas found in rsync. Feed a large .tar into it, and it will store duplicate regions of it only once, then compress and optionally encrypt the result.

In addition to compression, de-duplication across all clients, and now optional encryption, it supports public-key encryption, with possibility of multiple key files, and multiple clients writing to the same repository concurrently. The back end storage format seems to be a bit more standard (SQLite DB, lzop compressed files, etc).
